Most online security personnel’s have been speaking about quarantining the infected computers, but Microsoft proposed an out-of-the box course of action. According to this proposal, every computer machine will need to present a “Health Certificate“, failure to do so, such machines would be considered too sick and would be unable to connect to the world wide web.
Scott Charney, Microsoft’s vice president of trustworthy computing, presented his idea of “implementing a global collective defense of Internet health much like what we see in place today in the world of public health. Similarly, when an individual who hasn’t vaccinated causes potential health risks for others, computers which are unprotected and are compromised with a bot would put others at risk and pose a greater threat to society. In the real world, international, national, and local health organizations identify, track and control the spread of disease which can include, where necessary, quarantining people to avoid the infection of others.”
Most of the other nations are trying to implement similar security measures to avoid online threats and risks. Such steps would allow only the healthy computers available online.
What is your opinion about the proposal offered by Microsoft? Do you think that if a computer machine is sick and does not hold a health certificate, it should be allowed to access the Internet?
