FTP Hosting

FTP is a method to manage files (uploading and downloading) over the Internet or a network. FTP or file transfer protocol is used to connect two computers over the Internet so that the user of one computer can transfer files and perform file commands on the other computer ie for exchanging files over any network that supports the TCP/IP protocol (such as the Internet or an intranet).A protocol is a method which informs your computer about the connection to a server or client.

FTP is a common process used in file transfers from one computer to another: one computer is the server and the other called – the client (As it connects to the server). A server is in uploading process when sending files and the client is downloading them. To access a FTP server you need an internet or network connection, a FTP address, a username and a password.

Any software company or individual programmer is able to create FTP server or client software because the protocol is an open standard. Virtually every computer platform supports the FTP protocol. This allows any computer connected to a TCP/IP based on network to manipulate files on another computer on that network regardless of which operating systems are involved (if the computers permit FTP access). There are many existing FTP client and server programs available like cute FTP.
