WordPress seems to be the best blogging platform ever used. Easy to use interface, thousands of plugins, themes, tools etc have made it very popular.
Recently WordPress have came up with its latest released WordPress Multi-User ( WordPress MU, WordPressµ ) which allow you to have simultaneous blogs within one installation.
Thus if you have a website and you want to create your own blogging community then you can easy set it up using single installation. You can control, manage and can moderate all blogs which are created on your main blog through a single dashboard. All plugins, themes can be controlled by a central system thus unlike the single-user version of WordPress, individual MU bloggers cannot upload their own plugins and themes and can only choose
which are offered by blogging administrator. WordPress MU administrator can assign individual themes for each blogs or can make them available for every other user.
Thus if you are planning to offer your website users to have their individuals blogs hosted on your main blog then you can offer such facility to all users and can manage/moderate then using single board. Each individual blog would be independent and will have its own templates, setting which will not affect other micro blogs created on your master blog. You can have unlimited users with unlimited blogs.
You can assign different roles for all your members like (admin, editor, author, contributor, subscriber) for all blogs created under your main blog.
There can be more then one site administrator who can perform and can execute all required site-wide operations and managements like changing permissions, granting access, assisgning themes etc….
WordPress MU would be best used with websites related to magazines, newspapers, college, universities and other large companies who are looking to offer such facility for all their users.
